Another Award for City of the Dead!

Scarecon - Europe's specialist in the scare industry - sent out their scouts for a comprehensive review of Britian's spooky attractions in 2011.  Guess who won Britain's best ghost tour?  We did!  Check it out on Scarecon's ScareTours page.  And we've been shortlisted for the prestigious Screamie Awards 2011.  This is the third year in a row we've reached the finals and we're still the only Scottish attraction EVER to be shortlisted.  We can add those to coming top of the list in Yahoo Travel's Uk's Best Ghost Tours and Virgin Media's Best UK Ghost Tours.   Oh.  And Lonely Planet voted us 'The best of Edinburgh's  Ghost Tours'.  Shucks...

The Shocking Truth is Coming!

The story of the Mackenzie Poltergeist has already been told in the non-fiction book The Ghost That Haunted Itself - available from bookstores, Amazon or on this website.  But other things have happened in Greyfriars Graveyard over the last decade.   And they were so absolutely nuts that, for years, we were afraid to publish the whole story.  Until now.

Finally, J A Henderson has written a horror novel - Father Figure - based on City of the Dead tours and the Mackenzie Poltergeist.  If we insist it's fictional, none of us will go to prison.

Hopefully.

Father Figure will soon be available to download right here as a Kindle e-Book.  And it will only be 99p!

U S release for Jan Andrew Henderson

Jan Andrew Henderson's latest children's thriller is to be released in 2012 through Philomel books - an offshoot of Penguin USA.  As yet it has no firm title, though both 'Runner' and 'The Sixth Ring' have been bandied about.  It's only coming out in the USA so far but that's fine - there's plenty of people there.

We'll keep you posted for a title and a release date.

Cameron Mackintosh Award

Two City of the Dead tour guides, John and Gerry Kielty, won the Cameron Mackintosh Award for the Best Musical. Set (naturally) in Greyfriars Graveyard, The Sundowe has already toured Scotland to critical acclaim. www.thesundowe.com

And, if you want their (most excellent) band, The Martians are available for hire. A big hit at the Edinburgh Festival, they are anarchic, irreverent and very funny. They’re pretty good tour guides too. www.the-martians.co.uk

Their show at the 2008 Edinburgh Festival Fringe Twisted Tales of Greyfriars won a Spririt of the Fringe award, as well as five star review from Fest and Three Weeks magazines.
